Helping Hands & Hearts

Blessed Sacrament Church Community has an outreach program in place called Helping Hands & Hearts. The function of the program is to build the Kingdom of God by serving our fellow parishioners -- by being "Jesus with skin on." Each person at some time in their lives has needed the assistance of their neighbor. This is precisely what Helping Hands & Hearts aims to accomplish.

This ministry was developed in the fall of 1998 for the purpose of providing support for parishioners in need.

The parish is spread over quite a large area and it is difficult to reach members in need. To combat this problem, the parish was geographically divided into 40 neighborhoods; and for each area, there is a contact person available to gather volunteers to assist those in need within their neighborhood. Everyone in the parish is considered an integral part of this ministry as volunteers are needed in many ways. You can help by praying, listening, driving people to the doctor, visiting those in a nursing home for those who are homebound, taking food to the home of a new baby, etc. Your talents are needed and appreciated. Let the contact person know how you can be of assistance.
