If you want your child baptized, it is assumed your family is registered with our parish. At least one parent should be a practicing Catholic and the mother and father should have a marriage that is recognized as valid by the Catholic Church. If there are some difficulties with any of these requirements, please contact the Pastor. Exceptions might be made for good reason.
Parents planning on having their first child baptized will be required to attend a Baptismal class. You need to attend a Baptismal class for a second child only if you did not attend one for your first child in this parish. The class should be taken before the child is born in order that the Baptism can be scheduled without having to wait for the next class. Contact the Rectory during office hours to register.
In order to schedule a Baptism, parents should call the Rectory office after the pre-baptism class, if such a class is necessary. All pertinent information should be provided at that time; i.e., name and religion of godparents, marital status, etc. Baptisms are held during or following the 11:30 a.m. Mass the second and fourth Sunday of each month. The pastor or our deacon will perform Baptisms, depending on who is available. Exceptions could be made for good reason.
To receive First Holy Communion and First Reconciliation, a child should be registered in our religious education program for at least two years prior to the reception of the sacrament. Parents are expected to participate in the preparation of their children. Parental meetings will take place during the preparation process. For more informaion, contact Jim Eckhart at our parish school, jeckhart@mortonblessedsacrament.org or Rick Barbour, rbarbour@mortonblessedsacrament.org at the religious education office.
Saturdays from 4:00 - 4:30 p.m. during the season of Advent and Lent and at your request. Parish Lenten Reconciliation Service will be held on March 26, 7:00pm
Confirmation is celebrated in our parish every year with tenth grade. The Confirmation program lasts for two years and has educational and service components. For more information, contact Tom Mindock at 266-6791 or tmindock@mortonblessedsacrament.org
Call the Rectory anytime day or night.
The Rectory office should be notified six months prior to any marriage at Blessed Sacrament. Before a date can be set, it is necessary for the bride and groom to meet with the Pastor for Pre-marital Inventory and other preparations for marriage. Atttendance at Pre-Cana or Engaged Encounter is required plus the Christian Sexuality Workshop.
