From the Principal’s Desk
November 5, 2008
The results of our Iowa Test of Basic Skills have
arrived. This test is the new achievement test that the Diocese
chose to replace the Terra Nova. While the Diocese only requires
testing in grades 3, 5, and 7, we choose to test all grade 2-8.
This will help us to better understand where we need to improve
any areas of need at each grade level. You will receive the results
of your child’s test at the Parent/Teacher Conferences November
6. All of our classes did very well scoring well above grade level
at each grade. BSS qualifies for Blue Ribbon Status and I have
registered BSS for nomination for this school year. Only 50 private
schools in the nation receive the award yearly.
Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on Thursday, November 6,
from 8:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. There is NO SCHOOL the next day,
Nov. 7.
Reminder to Eighth Grade Parents: The Explore
Test, which is used for high school placement at Peoria Notre Dame
and Morton
High
School, will be given to our 8th graders on Saturday, November
8, from 8:00-Noon at Peoria Notre Dame. Students should arrive
at PND by 7:45 A.M. Notre Dame provides this test for our students
at no charge and since Morton also uses this test to place our
students it is very important that our students take this test.
Please mark this date on your calendars. Students should bring
calculators.
PARENTS: I am still in need of a person to fill the position
of Lunchroom Supervisor. It is a paid position ( or you can choose
to have tuition assistance) and the hours are 11:30-1:00 p.m.
every
day that school is in session. If you or some one you know would
like to fill the Lunchroom Supervisor position please contact
me at 263-8442 or by email.
